San Antonio -- ALA Midwinter 2006

At the end of this week I'll be heading off to attend ALA Midwinter in San Antonio. I'll arrive on Friday and am planning to attend the Holiday House reception and then onto the Editors' Choice Dinner wiht Hyperion. On Saturday the 2007 Caldecott Committee will be meeting and several will be going on to an 8:00 p.m. dinner at the Emily Morgan House. On Sunday -- the 22nd several authos and editors will be gathering to enjoy a meal at Pesca on the River (Watermark Hotel). Can you tell that my conference attendance revolves around food?

However, one of the main reasons I'm staying through Monday is to be onhand for the Caldecott/Newberry announcements. And then our committee's work on the 2007 selection will begin.

Look at this space for an announcement ASAP after the official announcement and then plan to watch the TODAY SHOW on Tuesday the 24th to see and hear from the winners. It should be a thrilling week.

More later.
