The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse - Eric Carle

Meet the Artist who created the Very Hungry Caterpillar and who now has written and illustrated another stunning book for the very youngest (and the very oldest) of readers -- Eric Carle.  After his Baby Bear, Baby Bear book -- his last in collaboration with the late Bill Martin, Jr.   Many surmised  that the Baby Bear book might be his last book, after all he was nearing 80.  Well now at 82 Eric Carle has produced a homage to Franz Marc - one of those banned artists from his childhood in Germany.  An article by Joanne Kaufman for School Library Journal gives us a look into the background of the story; and this trailer will introduce you to the book itself.  Eric Carle has created this trailer for The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse.

A great way to introduce one of the famous artists -- sharing some of Franz Marc's art will make an impact on young scholars.  The fact that Marc was just 36 when he died in World War I might make even a greater impact.

Franz Marc was a German Expressionist.
