Drop Everything and Read

Today is D.rop E.verything A.nd R.ead day -- but every day should be a day where children, parents, teachers, grandparents, engineers, construction workers, small business owners, young professionals, waitresses, sports players, coaches, doctors, nurses, everyone should spend at least 15 minutes READING.  Take a few minutes to Drop Everything and Read.  It will be the best 15 minutes you spend.
From the HarperCollins's site: "Beverly Cleary wrote about D.E.A.R. in Ramona Quimby, Age 8. Since then, 'Drop Everything and Read' programs have been held nationwide on April 12th in honor of Mrs. Cleary’s birthday." -- The public initiative is focused on the wonderful spirit of Beverly Cleary who gave children memorable books to read as children, to remember fondly as young adults, and to read to their own children, nieces, nephews, other young ones when they are adults themselves.
For those who are working with or parenting/grandparenting young readers you will find some fun resources on HarperCollins's Drop Everything and Read website.  Read with someone today.   Enjoy reading and learning.   Readers succeed; and Leaders are Readers.
