Gift Giving Suggestion #7 - Ages preschool-10

Mother Goose: A Classic Collection of Children's Nursery Rhymes. (2008) Intervisual Books/Dalmatian Publishing Group. ISBN: 978-158117-687-2 $19.95.

I love many Mother Goose books, those illustrated by Arnold Lobel, Tomie dePaola, Rosemary Wells, and many others but his collection is nostalgic -- with little flaps to open, miniature books, facsimiles of post cards, and vintage illustrations. In the very middle is a full page double-spread pop-up of the "four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie." Worth the price of the book.
A perfect gift for a new baby or for an older toddler or young reader who might be wanting to review the favorite nursery tales. The pop-up might stimulate those young readers to create their own pop-ups to accompany a favorite nursery verse. Check out Robert Sabuda's website to get some ideas for creating pop-ups (http://www.robertsabuda.com).
