Valentine's Day 2011

Lace and Roses
Heart shaped measuring spoons from a gift store-- the heart shaped carmel hearts from a school fundraiser.  The pink/red hearts are cookie cutters from a local craft store.  Wine glasses in the lace cloth filled basket.  Favorite wine -- not shown: Storyteller from the Fireside Winery in Marengo Iowa.

Storyteller: Exotic fruits, quince and mineral aromas invite summer patio sipping. In the mouth, fruit and floral flavors meld with lush sweetness that is balanced by crisp acidity lingering on the finish. Storyteller is a blend of Vignoles and Chardonell and is perfect for after dinner or a pleasing aperitif.

Red and White - the china has a gold rim. The ruby red bowls are antique store finds; napkins are standard fare from local department store as is the table ware.

Heart shaped measuring spoons was gift shop find.  Actually measures by the teaspoon full.

Red Roses were sent by a friend.  The red vase was also a gift from a friend -- and found in a quaint little gift store in the Czech Village on 16th Avenue in Cedar Rapids, IA.  The hand painted plate was a gift from a children's literature student -- both the plate and the student were from Russia.

This depression era pink frosted heart dish is my current favorite gift store find.

Hearts and frogs -- the hearts are cookie cutters -- and the frogs are part of a set of cute little frogs that were a holiday white elephant gift exchange.  One person's junk is another person's treasure.  I love them.
