Looking Toward Spring: Author/Illustrator Claudia McGehee

March 20, 2013 was the first day of Spring, on this past Saturday, April 20, 2013 - one month later, it seems that Spring had still not come.  It was chilly and seemed blustery outside but inside of the NewBo Book Store it was warm and cozy and Claudia McGehee was there with her Where Do Birds Live? (University of Iowa, 2010) title and a delightfully simple "make a bird" craft to inspire thoughts of spring and bird watching.
Claudia's Where Do Birds Live?  is a popular book for those who love birds.   As mentioned in another post on this blog Where Do Birds Live? would make a perfect book for young readers and older bird watchers.  Add in a pair of binoculars, a bird identification book, and you've got a great gift to inspire the inquisitive and to promote curiosity.

I was able to make my own bird (it'll be an ornament on my next holiday tree) and to purchase an autographed copy  of Where Do Birds Live?

The afternoon visit to NewBo Books was a refreshing pause in a busy day.

The best part of the day is that Where Do Birds Live? is now a favorite reading book for a very young reader and it is autographed especially for him.

Claudia McGehee's other books include: A Tallgrass Prairie Alphabet and A Woodland Counting Book.  Learn more about Claudia McGehee and her art/writing on her website.
